History Prairie Creek Baptist Church was begun as a satellite congregation of First Baptist Church, Plano, in 1972, meeting at Shepard Elementary School. In 1975, we moved to our present location at 3201 W. 15th Street in Plano, constituted as a self-supporting and autonomous congregation, and called Bob C. Ross as pastor. Growth was rapid, and in 1978, we broke ground on an educational building that included a multi-purpose gymnatorium that was used for worship, fellowship, and recreation. Easter Sunday of 1991 was another milestone for the church as we moved into our present Worship Center. In 2003 the church entered into a strategic planning process that culminated in the retirement of our beloved pastor Bob Ross after almost 29 years of service and the calling of our new pastor, Bobby Bressman to take us to the next level.
Affiliations We are affiliated with the Collin Baptist Association, the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and the Southern Baptist Convention. We cooperate with these groups to further the cause of Christ through missions and evangelism. We contribute to their support through our church budget by giving a percentage of our income to the Cooperative Program. This money supports the work of the denomination in starting churches and sending missionaries to share the gospel around the world.
Church Government Our church is a local body of Christ under the Head of the church, Jesus Christ. Our church has a congregational form of church government under a church constitution. Business meetings are held quarterly. The congregation is always asked to vote on the annual budget, any capital expenditure beyond the budget, and the calling and terminating of pastoral staff.
