Prairie Creek is active in the life of our community. No church can do everything a community needs, but we have identified several ways we can help. We invite you to join us. For more information, email the ministry leader as indicated below.
The world is coming to Plano, and many of them need to learn English. ESL has become a centerpiece of our community ministries as we seek to connect with newcomers who need help navigating American life and learning the language. We have classes and conversation groups for all levels which meet on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. throughout the school year. For photos of our End-of-Year Celebration, click here. If you are a native speaker and have a willing heart, we can teach you the rest. Email Penny.
Some of us feel called to provide wholesome food for people and a place to grow it. We plant familiar foods like tomatoes and cucumbers plus more exotic fare like African spinach. Help us garden. Suggest new crops. We'd love to hear from you. Email Susan.
Kidz Closet provides new and gently used clothing for free for school aged kids. The closet is open on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. during the school year or by appointment. Donation baskets for children's clothing ONLY are provided in the main hallway of the Education Building. We are always grateful for donations of clothing, help sorting clothes, and volunteers to help the shoppers on Wednesday nights. Email Kim.
The vision of Embrace Grace is for every young woman with an unplanned pregnancy to have a church to go to for emotional and spiritual support. Our women are seeking to be that church for young women and their families who choose life. Do you want to help, know someone who needs help, or need help yourself? Email Mandy.
NewDay Services impacts families by focusing on helping fathers who have become a part of the CPS system. The class is called Focus (Fathers Offering Children Unfailing Support) Fatherhood. These men are at a tough place in their lives and so are their children. We help them better understand how to navigate the CPS system. We teach them to live within what they can control and to take the focus off of what they cannot control. We give them good insights on what a man should do and be, and what the primary role of a dad is. We teach them about co-parenting, whether they are still with the mom or not. Finally, we give them good insights on how to communicate with their kids and how to help them to grow up to have the values they want them to have as adults.
We need men who are interested in investing in this kind of work. You will have the opportunity to sit with the guys in class, contribute in class, talk with them, and make connections with them. You may have chances to pray with them and even mentor them.
We meet on Tuesdays from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in Rooms 200 an 202. Email Robby.
