Gaining or improving one’s English skill is valuable
to everyone not raised speaking English as their primary language. We believe
God has called us to help our neighbors who want to develop their English
abilities. We provide classes free of
charge, although we encourage students to purchase a textbook/workbook if
used in their class.
Registration Night Fall 2017: Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM
ESL and Citizenship Classes: Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM beginning September 6, 2017 and continuing through May 2, 2018 (excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas and PISD Spring Break).
Classes are offered at all levels, from the most basic to advanced, including:
Guided Conversation: Group discussion on topics of interest allowing students to practice grammar and vocabulary in a real-world setting. Must exhibit at least an intermediate level of English before taking this course.
Advanced Vocabulary and Current Events: Focus on expanding one’s vocabulary through new words and idioms. Apply these skills to reading and discussing current news stories.
United States Citizenship Preparation: For those intending to apply for U.S. citizenship. Learn the history and government of the United States focusing on the questions asked in the actual test for citizenship.
Simplified English Bible Study: A class for internationals interested in studying the Bible in a simplified English format. This class meets on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM in Room 107. Recommended for Level 2 or higher levels of English proficiency.
